On the 4th of February 1871, the land on which Chiswick Haus now stands was bought by a bricklayer named Harvey Smith. He paid the princely sum of £79.
At that time three cottages were built and Chiswick Haus was known as No. 2 Harvey Cottages.
On the 5th of January 1895, Harvey Smith died at No. 3 Harvey Cottages and the ownership of Chiswick Haus was passed in his will to his widow, Mary Ann Smith.
When Mary Ann died in 1905, she in turn passed the property on to Charles Breach in her will.
Charles Breach then passed Chiswick Haus on to his wife Annie Alice Breach when he passed away shortly before Christmas on the 23rd of December 1942.
When Annie Alice herself died in December 1950, she passed the property on to her children, Henry Charles Breach, Minnie Alice Breach and Louisa Elizabeth Wenden.
The next 50 years are not captured in any documents we have access to, but in 2001, Sarah Louise Fentem became the proprietor of Chiswick Haus, having paid £345,000.
Then, in November 2007, we became the proud owners of Chiswick Haus, formerly 30 Priory Road, formerly No. 2 Harvey Cottages.
The future of Chiswick Haus is about to be written…
